Rose Ceremony

On the last day of school we had our Rose Ceremony, our kindergardeners become first graders and our first graders become second graders.

I called each first grader up to the front of the room and I shared my appreciations for them and gave them a rose. The first grader then called up a kinder friend and shared an appreciation and/or wish for them and put their bell necklace on saying, “You are now a first grader”. The love and appreciations shared were so touching and the kinders beamed (and jingled) with joy to now be first graders. We ended our ceremony with a poem and lots of cheering! And I continued to call them first and second grade for the rest of the day, which they thought was the best thing ever 🙂

If your first grader wants to wear their bell to the first day of school, that’s okay with me. They are very proud of their bells! They are big first graders now!
